What is an adoption evaluation?

An adoption evaluation is court ordered and includes an evaluation of the circumstances as well as the condition of the home and the social environment of any person requesting to adopt a child(ren).  In most cases, the State of Texas requires that an adoption evaluation be filed and conducted even if family members are already involved in the child(ren)’s life.  

How long does an adoption evaluation take?

The adoption evaluation process can take up to 1-3 months or longer to complete, depending on your unique circumstances. It is important that Ms. Elizondo is first specifically appointed via court order, and that the prospective adoptive families gather and send all the necessary/required documents.  In addition, it is also vital to begin the background check process as soon as possible in order to prevent potential delays.
